Wake up, Mankind

I’d like to thank You, Father, that I am living now
While beasts and birds and fishes can still exist somehow
Suppose I’d come to live here one hundred years along
Would man have wiped out everything without a thought of wrong?
Would there be only pictures to show what You had wrought
When You filled with Your great miracles this green and lovely earth?
To think our children’s children might see no living thing
That moves in glorious action of paw and fin and wing.
Since thinking-man can save them, these lives of sea and land
Please waken man, Great Spirit, and make him understand.
So thank you Heavenly Father for the creatures that survive
And thank You that I’ve seen them not in pictures, but alive.
